Multi-effect evaporation is a widely used technique in the fertilizer industry for concentrating and purifying various fertilizer solutions. The key principles are:

1.  Evaporation achieves higher energy efficiency compared to single-stage evaporation.

2. Pressure Differences: Each successive evaporation stage operates at a lower pressure, allowing the vapor from the previous stage To boil and evaporate the solution in the next stage.

3. Concentration: As the solution passes through multiple effects, the concentration of the desired fertilizer compound gradually Increases, producing a more concentrated final product.

4. Purification: The stepwise evaporation can also remove impurities and byproducts, improving the purity of the final fertilizer.

Common applications of multi-effect evaporation in fertilizer production include concentrating solutions of ammonium nitrate, urea, phosphoric acid, magnesium sulfate,and potassium salts.
